Jamestown, N.Y. – Retired Presbyterian minister Angus Watkins will deliver the message at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Jamestown’s (UUCJ) 10:30 a.m. virtual service on Sunday, December 19.
“Christmas is a Metaphor” will be a celebration of the story’s social and ecological message and a gentle broadside at biblical literalism.
A graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Watkins received his master’s of divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He lived outside Ashville, N.Y., in North Harmony Township for over 25 years with his wife, Anne, who is a member of the UUCJ. They recently moved back to their native Buffalo area.
For those who are interested, an optional virtual coffee hour in breakout rooms follows the service.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, UUCJ Sunday services are remaining virtual instead of returning to 1255 Prendergast Avenue. Anyone is welcome to participate with the link at UUJamestown.org/calendar.
